The turn actuator with special arrangement of the end stops prevents absorbed braking torques straining the shaft, the piston bearings, the pinion, the toothed racks, the piston sheets and the end caps of the pivoting drive. With the help of these end stops, the maximum pivoting angle of the driving mechanism can be set, e.g. between 90° and 45°, operated by remote control, so that a connected equipment unit can be converted from the Open/ Closed function into a metering function, or into the functional state Partial Stroke Test. As model series / modular system, this turn actuator can be converted relatively easily into a variety of drive options.
A special release mechanism allows the pivoting drive to automatically move into a safety position, with increased ambient temperature or other physical variables, as well as also through a signal from a switch control centre. Through this, piping systems can be closed quickly and safely in case of leakages or in case of fire. As far as it is necessary in the case of fire, individual pipe sections can be re-opened after closure, operated by remote control, in order to activate certain pipe sections for the passage of extinguishing and cooling means.
